Spirit of Bali

Sorry but the registration for Bali is now closed. This pilgrimage is completely sold out.

Mandala is a Sanskrit term that means “sacred circle.” Join us as we explore the sacred landscape of this tropical paradise and connect it to the sacred circle that lives inside each of us. Bali is one of the most beautiful, idyllic spots on Earth.

The Balinese people make no distinction between art, life and spirit; the expression of the divine is woven into every aspect of life.

Mary will lead us through this amazing landscape as we reconnect with spirit, recharge and purify.

Itinerary

April 11-13 – Fly the airline of your choice, just know that you will be crossing the international dateline and you will arrive 2 days later than you leave. Luckily, you’ll get it all back when you leave!

April 13 – A private coach and guides will take you from the airport on the 2-hour drive across the bottom portion of Bali and into the delightful town of Ubud, Bali’s heart center. Here, just outside the hustle and bustle of Monkey Forest Road, you will find a retreat dedicated to the finer things in life: beauty, tranquility and excellent food. Lounge by the pool, take a walk into the rice paddies, or luxuriate for hours at the amazing spa. The Komaneka offers a stunning pool, a Balinese restaurant, and a full spa all on site. All rooms feature views of the rice paddies and rain forest, down to the Tjampuhan River below. Laundry, dry cleaning, WiFi, and 24-hour room service are all available. www.komaneka.com

April 14 – Welcome to Bali! After a freshly cooked breakfast, you will enjoy an exploration excursion in Ubud – visit the local craft and souvenir market, a silversmith where you can see the pieces being made, and the Ayu Mas painting studio where incredible artists paint room after room of fabulous pieces (they all roll up, so you can take home several!) Don’t forget to get a sarong, so you can be perfectly dressed for the temple visits. A late afternoon meeting with Mary, in your private meeting room, will start you on your spiritual journey for the trip. This evening, take a short ride on an air-conditioned microcoach, then enjoy a welcome dinner at the absolutely unique Blanco Museum. Begin with cocktails and a stroll around the stunning grounds, where colorful tame Macaws and Cockatoos will happily pose for photos with you. Experience the famous Balinese Kichek Dance and thrill to the deep call of this powerful performance. Take a tour of the spectacular Blanco Museum, designed and built by Antonio Blanco himself, the “Dali of Bali.” Then delight in an authentic Balinese meal overlooking the rice paddies of Ubud, with cocktails and wine included. The restaurant’s terrace makes you feel as if you are dining in the treetops, accompanied by the gamelon music of talented local musicians. (B, D)

April 15 – This morning, journey by air-conditioned coach to Besakih Temple, the mother of all on this island of 10,000 temples! Mary will lead you in an opportunity to worship with the Balinese as they do. Wear a temple outfit (bring your own white shirt from home) including sash and sarong, then drive through  the delightful Balinese countryside on your way to Mount Agung. Besakih is built into the very slopes of this sacred mountain, and you can experience one of the most important spots in Bali. Along the way, Mary will show you how to do the prayers, Balinese-style, and explain the meaning behind each step. Inside the temple grounds, your guides will make a special offering of flowers and fruit to the temple, then show everyone how to pray with flowers, incense, and rice – you can follow along with Mary and the local Pedanda (Balinese priest). This is a beautiful way to honor the local traditions, and is very appreciated by the locals, especially since most tourists don’t bother to learn! Afterwards, enjoy a buffet lunch at a mountainside restaurant with breathtaking views before heading back to the Komaneka. (B, L)

April 16 – This morning, Mary will lead you and the other pilgrims through meditation and teaching that will deepen your experience. Relax today in Ubud: lounge at the hotel pool, shop, or explore this wonderful village. Perhaps you will want to walk down to the bottom of Monkey Forest Road, to see where this street gets its name? Along the way, enjoy the wealth of shops and restaurants, spas and museum-like galleries. (B)

April 17 – Today experience the rural charm of Bali at Gulingen Village. Enjoy a fabulous morning relaxing among the rice paddies, listening to local gamelon music, and even getting a lesson on how to make Balinese flower offerings. Lunch is a delicious buffet at this private, tranquil Balinese compound. Of course, vegetarian dishes will be included for those who prefer them. This is native Bali… Afterwards, visit the Bali Budaya wood-carving studio and see local carvers, and the Legong batik studio, where you can see every stage of the exacting art of batik. (B, L)

April 18 – This morning, you will meet with Mary and the rest of your group to continue your spiritual awakening. This afternoon is free to enjoy Ubud. Tonight, mix things up a bit as you have a wonderful Italian meal at the delightful Terazzo Restaurant in Ubud. Take a leisurely 10-minute drive from your hotel, across the street to dine in another country! Delicious fresh Italian food with a Balinese twist. (B, D)

April 19 – After a leisurely breakfast, transfer in a private air-conditioned coach to the fabulous 5-star Nusa Dua Village, and its lovely accommodations: the Melia Hotel and Spa. (B) You will feel completely at home in this delightful Balinese resort, where all your needs are met. Enjoy wonderful local cuisine for breakfast. Relax at the private beach, swim in your one of the hotel pools, dine in the magnificent onsite restaurants, delight in the 5-star spa. Internet access, including WiFi, laundry, dry cleaning, and 24-hour room service is available. www.meliabali.com/en/index.html

April 20 – This morning, your private coach will transport you to one of the most sacred sites in Bali – Tirta Empul, or Holy Springs. Mary will lead you in taking in the holy waters at one of the most sacred spots on the island of Bali… Tirta Empul is a delightful and deep way to experience the spirituality of the locals, as you immerse yourself in the rituals of the Balinese people. After purifying yourself, wearing your temple dress, step fully clothed into the waters of Tirta Empul. Ducking your head under each of the 13 holy springs, feel the significance of the waters as they cleanse your past and you emerge ready to create the future. You will be surrounded by locals who will support and appreciate you as you make this powerful shift. This is a trip very few tourists take. Enjoy lunch with a terrific view on your way home, then your evening is free. (B, L)

April 21 – Relax today, and explore Nusa Dua village, with its fine shopping at the Bali Collection, it’s terrific spas and its Ubud-like souvenir sellers. Take a walk along the private beach at your hotel or lie out by the pool or ocean. This evening, you will be taken somewhere unique for a special surprise! (B)

April 22 – Relax and pack today, and enjoy a final afternoon on the beach. Tonight, get ready for your incredible farewell dinner. Your air-conditioned coach will whisk you up the beaches for a a French twist on Balinese food. Ma Joly restaurant offers a delightful seafront view as you dine on incredible French cuisine. Passed canapés and cocktails will start your evening, then you will enjoy delicious food and wonderful service in an elegant atmosphere - a terrific way to end your Bali tour! (B, D)

April 23 – Private transfers to Denpasar Airport with private cars, drivers, and guides, who will escort you through check-in and up to the visa desk to purchase your exit visas and begin your flight home. (B)
