Overcome your self defeating patterns

Lay claim to the power of God that is in you

A number of years ago someone gave me a phrase to practice when I wanted to overcome a self-defeating pattern. We all have patterns of thinking that are less than who we really are. We learned them as kids or we learned them because something happened and we began to believe something about ourselves that produced a limiting experience.

Limiting thoughts are when you think “I can’t do that” or “I don’t have enough of this” or “it’s too late” or “I should have done it sooner”. So when you have those thoughts just to say to yourself, “Up until now, that has been true about me.”

Those words up until now are a powerful message to the subconscious mind. They are a new order coming in. They are saying that the order that was established in the past is no longer in power. By the authority that is given each one of us in our freedom of choice, in our free will; we get to choose a new pattern, when we say so.

So when the old pattern emerges trying to give life to itself one more time, we say to it, “No, that may have been true – up until now it was true, but not now. Now, this is true.” We begin to establish a new pattern of thinking and that new pattern of thinking as we focus on it begins to take on a life of itself. That new life is our life. So today we say “up until now” to everything that is limiting and we lay claim to the power of God that is in us to describe and decide the life we would have.

Many Blessings,
Mary
