When I was in Jamaica speaking for the Temple of Light church I sat with an amazing woman who perfectly demonstrated stepping into her calling. The woman, who started 25 years prior doing this work, was presently 82 years old. She spoke about the difficulty in this particular culture of being a woman and saying yes to her calling in the world. After 25 years, it was clear that many people had been touched by her work. So many people had been touched by her willingness to say yes to what was in front of her. It was really her calling to do.

It got me thinking about something unusual that happened as I went to get on the plane flying from Miami to Jamaica. I gave them my ticket, and then went to go through the entrance way. Usually you just step right on to the jetway entrance, the little tube that takes you to the plane, but this time there was a door there. I thought maybe it was an elevator door so I stood back waiting for that door to open. A man came from behind me and just stepped around me. As he stepped towards the door, the door opened. I realized it was one of those sensor doors and it could actually open only if you stepped towards it.
 
Then I thought about this woman, 82 years old, who didn’t wait for the door to open, she stepped towards her work. She stepped towards her calling; she stepped towards what the Light was asking her to do.
 
So I would say to each one of us today, that door that might look closed in front of us, but step towards it. What is your calling? What is your longing? What’s beckoning to you? The miracle that is you is waiting for you to step into your calling.
