Water is a sacrament

We are in the baptism of the holy moment that is now

Today’s focus could be that all the ways we use water might remind us that water is actually a sacrament. Bathing can be a sacrament just like baptism. It can be a time not only to become physically clean but to allow our thoughts to become clean. To become clean with what’s really true and what’s really real and to just see ourselves becoming clean and clear in our thoughts as we bathe.

As part of our spiritual practice we can clean our feet and be reminded that where we stand this day is holy ground. When we wash our hands, we can think about the way these hands really can touch the world and touch other people. How much we can be touched by the presence of God right where we are. When we brush our teeth we can resolve to speak in ways that are pure and true and uplifting and each part of our body that we touch with water, as we take that water in our mouth, we can recognize the nurturing, the holy word may be with us this day.

So my friends, there’s water all around you. We’re 98 percent water ourselves. This water is the refreshing, living water of the spirit. So, however we are with water this day, let us remind ourselves that we are in the baptism of the holy moment that is now.

Many Blessings,
Mary
