How to honor, celebrate and benefit from the freedom you’ve been granted

In the United States, we enjoy a tremendous amount of freedom. Sometimes it’s easy to take those freedoms for granted and miss some of the real opportunities that they bring us.

Today, I’m going to show you a simple way to honor the freedom you’ve been granted to live a life you love living.

I’ve been studying, teaching and mentoring others in the principles of transformation for more than 45 years now. If there’s one thing I know about dreams, it’s this: At this very moment, you have the freedom to pursue any dream you desire.

Celebrating Military Service This Veterans Day

Today, Veterans Day, is the perfect day to acknowledge and celebrate your freedom. Veterans Day in the United States is a day we set aside to thank and honor all those living and passed on who served in the military, during both times of war and peace. We send our gratitude to them for the freedom to pursue our dreams.

Many people all around the world enjoy different types of freedoms. If you don’t live in the United States, you may not celebrate Veterans Day, however, you can choose to give thanks to those who have provided (and helped serve to provide) the freedoms that you DO have.

freedom to live

For example, in the United States, we have choices, freedoms and liberties to create lives we love for ourselves, and to create lives we love for our families. We have the freedom to start businesses, decide to work for someone else or not work at all. We have the freedom to write books on any topic we want.

We have the freedom to marry anyone we choose, raise our children in the way that we believe, feed our bodies any food we prefer and to dream any dream we wish.

Today, right now, as you’re reading this, I invite you to take a breath and send a kind glance way, way, way, way back when, in 1776, ideas of freedom, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness were being established in the U.S.

Think back to those who laid their lives on the line again and again, who made it possible for us to celebrate this day, Veterans Day, when we feel gratitude for all of those who have ever served in the United States for the freedoms we have today.

As we feel gratitude, let me remind you that living from a state of gratitude today and every day is one of the keys to creating a happier, more fulfilling and abundant life.

I’m grateful to have the freedom be able to open my own businesses, being able to work for myself.Im grateful for my children and family members that they are able to do the same. Freedom of having free will…

  • I know you said one, but I have three…I am so grateful we are free to read and publish as we please without fear of censorship. My life is so rich and full because I am free to read and listen to books as I please. I don’t know how I could make it through a day without some sort of book for escape or learning or worship. My life would also not be complete without being free to worship as I choose. God is central to my universe and being, so I am eternally grateful for that right. Last but not least, as a woman, I am extremely grateful for the right to vote, to hold property, to have equal credit in my name, and to choose whom I marry and also to be free to work if I choose. In other words, to be an “equal” citizen in our country. I don’t take that right lightly. Women in so many other countries do not have that right. I pray for them constantly.

When my first daughter was a few months old, I was standing near her crib and watching her sleeping. My father walked to the room, looked at me and said: the way you are looking at her; there is something in your mind, what are you thinking?
    – Well, if somebody would tell me that for Masha to get an education in Sorbonne, I need to walk there and back, I am ready to go. My father looked at me again and said, I know you would. The year was 1967.
In 1978 we left the Soviet Union.

The year 1984. A year before graduating from the school, we were invited to an organized evening to meet with representatives from colleges and universities.
The sports arena was busy with hundreds of small tables and people, walking from one table to another, talking, picking up the information about academes for later to decide which one is the best would be for their child.
As the rest of the parents, I was walking, talking, and watching the excitement mixt with the business mood. At some point, I had tears in my eyes. I would never forget this moment of a sudden feeling of understanding that my daughter can go to any University she would choose, and nobody would deny her this right only because she is a jew.
As it was done to me.
I only wished that my father could see this special moment in the life of his family. I know, he would say:
This what you wanted for your daughter, when I asked you years ago, so it’s here now. You did walk your walk for this moment.
And this is the moment that I call Freedom. Freedom to choose the life you
    want to live!

  • Beautiful reminders, Mary. Indeed so very grateful for so many freedoms. I have tremendous gratitude to be able to have a spiritual path of choice. What a gift :-)

I’m so grateful to be in a quiet place, where I can focus on serving millions (my goal) while editing my next book, I blew my diet! Now what?

I am grateful for those of you, such as your good self, Mary, who remind us of all the blessings we enjoy, living in the free world. May we never forget those who served so nobly and, as stated by Winston Churchill, ‘for your tomorrows, we gave our todays.’

I am most gratefull for the Freedom of Religion that I enjoy here where I live, and I know that it is actually one of the reasons, perhaps the main reason the Mayflower, with the original pilgrims, set sail to the New World, that later became the USA.

The gratitude I have most is being able to complain about Veterans Day and the true scam it is…… war is a racquet….. pure and simple! We have been at war for 222 years of our 246…….and not very proud of what we did to the nation that originally welcomed us either. We are bombing 7 nations as we read this….. for our freedom?
We’ve been in Afghanistan for over 18 years….. 5th poorest country in the world……we cannot seem to win that war …..yet that country is producing over 90% of the worlds opium
    What’s up??????

  • Hi Mary,
As the son of a veteran and myself a recently retired Army Officer, I believe that my family has been able to fully embrace and practice gratitude over the years.
Some weren’t as easy as others – Christmas was especially hard when I was younger…
If there is one thing that I’ve been able to apply since following you is this: being grateful for the days and people around me.
Some have unfortunately passed away but I’ve tried to remember the times we were able to have together because of the sacrifices of days past.
Thank you for what you do; the world definitely needs more of what you bring!

I am grateful for all I can do with all my heart. While reading the e-mail for a moment, I was in the process of doing a project that turned into a golden candle and a Christian in a blue full of stars (space) advisor. I am happy to get ready with the project photo program, one more card, ready photos. Messaging is the next part that is coming. I love my project wholeheartedly, but I know that everyday life is livable. Thank you
